Obituary

Jerry Levere Hagemeier,85, went Home to be with the Lord, June 16, 2024. He passed away, family by his side, after a courageous battle with MDS.

Jerry was born March 24, 1939 to Herbert and Bonnie (Fiscus) Hagemeier in Westphalia, Indiana. The second of six children, he grew up tending the animals and, when old enough, worked for nearby farmers. Jerry was musically inclined. He played the accordion well but could teach himself to play any instrument. Once, he even took a saw, held the handle with his feet and bent the top and used a spoon to make music on it!

After a stint in the Army, he married his wife of nearly 65 years, Beverly Mundy, on November 22, 1959. In October of 1960, daughter, Dana Lynne was born. Jerry was proud to be her dad. He taught her to change the oil, clean fish and how not to throw the ball like a girl. In July of 1967,  daughter, Deidre Jean, arrived. She was, without a doubt, Jerry's baby girl. He loved watching her perform and hearing her sing made his heart happy. The family enjoyed traveling to places such as Virginia, Washington DC and Wyoming and in 1974, made their way back to Wyoming where they made Moorcroft their home.

Jerry was a carpenter by trade. He built many things including helping build the WyoDak power plant. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In retirement, he liked to go camping, riding ATVs, and playing cornhole or relaxing at the lake, though most days were spent mowing, tinkering in the shop or playing with his grandbabies.

Jerry dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He served as a Deacon at FSBC for many years until his passing. There is no doubt his spiritual influence led countless hearts to Christ. Jerry also enjoyed running the bus ministry at church. Taking the kids to and from Sunday school was dear to his heart. He ran this ministry for over 30 years.

Jerrys family was his greatest treasure. Bev, his beloved wife, his daughters, his pride and joy and his grandchildren, the light of his life. He never missed an opportunity to hug and kiss them and make sure they knew how much he loved them.

Jerry will be remembered for his vigor for the Lord. He was never afraid to share the gospel. He also didn't know a stranger, only friends he'd not yet met. His contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes will forever be in the minds of those who loved him and his kindness and compassion will live in the hearts of those with whom he shared it. His laughter will echo in the memories we carry of him and hold near to our hearts until we see him again in Heaven.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bev, daughter, Dana (Steve) Blakeman, son-in-law, Rick Murphey, granddaughters, Courtney (Chuck) Reynolds, Lindsey (Calvin) McCrea, Ashley Cartwright, and Whitney (Thayne) Hardy, grandsons, Steven (Jennifer) Blakeman and Derrik Murphey, brother, Harley (Sue), Sisters, Marilyn (Leo), Carolyn and Sheryl (Elmo). Great grands, Kaiden (Kaylei), Katelynn, Alexander, Gatlin, Hailey, London, Isabella, Trinity, Marcus, Kenny, Cannon, Nolan, Jada, Branch, Lynley, Bexley, and Lincoln and honorary great grands, Jaylynn and Isabella.
