Jerrold Alfred Hansen, 83, of Spearfish, SD passed away March 3rd, 2015 at the Belle Fourche Regional Health Care Facility. His wife and children used words like fearless, patient, and steady to describe him as a husband a father and a man.

Jerrold was born on April 23rd, 1931 in Interior, South Dakota to Alfred and Sylvia (Paulson) Hansen. He left Kadoka, South Dakota after graduating High School for the Air Force. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. There he was in charge of pilot examinations and also worked as a computer technician.

Upon returning from the Air Force he married the love of his life Norma Carson. They raised their children together in Kadoka, South Dakota until 1965 when they moved to Spearfish to purchase and run a dairy operation. He lived in Spearfish upon retirement and enjoyed his family as it grew and was established. He is remembered as a man with a high degree of practical intelligence, being able to work with numbers and estimate the weight of large loads with a great deal of accuracy. He had many loves in his life including livestock, planes, his family and the Word of God.

Jerrold is survived by his wife, Norma Hansen of Spearfish; daughter, Deb (Kevin) Burrington of Manhattan, MT; sons, Paul (Jan) Hansen, Mike (Barb) Hansen, Matt Hansen, and Mark Hansen all of Spearfish; sister, Marilyn (Darral) Brooks of Rapid City, SD; as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Sylvia Hansen; sister, Joann (Lloyd) Prichard; infant daughter, Carrie Jo and nephew, Cory Brooks.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Calvary Temple Assembly of God. A memorial has been established in Jerrold's memory supporting the distribution of God's Word through Gideon's International.
