Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Totman, 69, Whitewood, SD, died July 7, 2011 at the Advanced Care Hospital in Billings, MT.

Jerry was born March 7, 1942 at New Ulm, MN to Harvey and Ruby (Millard) Totman.
He graduated from high school in Minneapolis, MN. He then served in the US Air Force from 1960-1969. He married Jill Thompsen in 1963. To this union two children were born, Todd and Zana. Jerry and Jill then lived in Fridley, MN from1972-1999, during that time he worked at Sequoia Supply in Minneapolis for 20 years. He then moved to Spearfish, SD, where he owned Sherwood Lodge for 18 years, along with Hotoddy's snow plowing. He was a social butterfly. Jerry was also an avid horse back rider, ad loved trail rides and wagon trains through the hills. He always enjoyed taking his grandchildren on the wagon train, but was glad to see them go home. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Deadwood Post 5969, where he served as commander and chaplain.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, along with two brothers Ronnie and Darwin and a sister Darlene.

He is survived by his wife Jill, son Todd (Denise) Totman, daughter Zana (Chas) McKinney, eleven grandchildren Brandon McKinney, Cassie (Jeremy) Boldt, Amanda (Tony) Williams, Aaron Otterness, C.J. McKinney, Zack Otterness, Brittany McKinney, Jake McKinney, Hunter McKinney, Tommy Totman and Nick Hook. He also is survived by 4 great-grandchildren Ali Jensen, Declan Jensen, Archer Woodrick and Cash Williams.

Memorial Services for Jerry will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
