Jeffrey "Jeff" D. Rathbun, 52 of Hulett, WY died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Greater Hulett Community Center in Hulett. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Moore Hill Cemetery near Hulett.
Jeff was born November 7, 1959 to Harley and Shirley (Proctor) Rathbun in Belle Fourche, SD. He attended country school at New Haven. He participated in rodeo and wrestling in high school, graduating from Hulett High School in 1978. Jeff then attended Laramie County Community College and graduated from the Equine Program. He moved to Southern California, where he trained race horses for D. Wayne Lucas and trained "Winning Colors", who won the Kentucky Derby. He later moved to Idaho, where he continued to train horses. Jeff returned to Hulett, where he enjoyed hunting, attending auctions, collecting antiques and visiting with family and friends. Jeff would lend a hand to whoever would need it. He will be missed by his family.
Grateful to have shared in his life is his sister, Jolene (Jim) Henderson of Douglas, WY, his nephew, Shane (Bridget) Stinson and their family, Dawson, T.K. and Sadie of Douglas, WY, nieces, Shaunna (Jeremiah) Owens and their family, Brody and Ally of Laramie, WY and Ashley Henderson of Minneapolis, MN, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and to many friends to count.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents; Richard and Mutt Proctor and Art and Myrtle Rathbun, his parents, Harley and Shirley Rathbun and his brother, Jerry Rathbun.
