Jeffrey Ward Messner of Pine Haven, Wyoming, age 58, died in his home on March 14, 2012 from heart complications.
Jeff was a native North Dakotan and a 27 year Wyoming resident. He and his wife, Diane, spent the last 9 years living in a log cabin that had been crafted by his own two hands. Jeff was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, boating and hunting. He supported a great love for animals and also enjoyed cooking, taxidermy, carpentry and leatherwork. Although a cement finisher by trade, Jeff spent his later years working as a truck driver. In 1988, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Range Management from the University of Wyoming and was proud of the fact that both his children followed in his footsteps by also graduating from UW. He was a faithful supporter of both the Wounded Warrior Project and Red Cross. Jeff was a very giving man who continually used his many talents to help family, friends and neighbors alike.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Messner, a brother, Dale Messner, and a half-brother, Jerome Messner Jr..
He is survived by his wife, Diane Messner, of Wyoming, his mother, Betty Messner, of North Dakota, two brothers, Dwight Messner of North Dakota and Jay Messner of Nevada, a sister, Elese Messner-Price of Minnesota, two half sisters, Monica Heck of North Dakota and Celeste Brennan of Montana, a son, Joe Messner of North Dakota and a daughter, Carly Messner of Oregon. Jeff will be greatly missed by all.
