Obituary

Chroshia Jeannine Shuck, 77, from Spearfish, SD, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 10th, 2024, at Spearfish Canyon Health Care in Spearfish.

Jeannine was born on October 20, 1946, in Murdo SD to Everett & Lois Wood. As a child her family lived in Murdo and White River, SD, where she was able to grow up with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. White River was a very special place to her and where she developed a lifelong love of the Native American culture. The family moved to Newcastle, WY when she was a teenager, and she graduated from Newcastle High School in 1964. During her time in Newcastle, she was blessed to have worked for Don and Betty Baldwin and their home eventually became a second home to her. Jeannine married John Shuck on July 8th, 1969, in Newcastle, which is where they also resided. Their twin sons, Grady & J.D. were born on June 1, 1970, and their daughter Johnna was born on September 6, 1974. They moved to Colony, WY in 1977 where they worked on the Jensen Ranch. During this time in Colony, she was very active helping at her children's school, Bariod, and with the community 4-H chapter.  In 1987 the family moved to Caldwell, ID, where she was active in her children's school activities and with a cowboy ministry. She moved back to Wyoming in 1994 and spent several years in Hulett, WY where she made many long-lasting friendships. Her last big move was to Spearfish, SD in 2003, when she moved in with her daughter's family to care for her grandson. Her greatest joy was being "Amma" to her two grandsons, Slade & Gaige & helping to raise them.

Jeannine was regularly active in any church that they joined wherever they lived. Her love for her Lord and Savior, her family, friends, and animals will be her greatest legacy. She was a wonderful artist and inspirational writer that impacted many lives. She loved nothing more than to provide comfort to anyone who needed her prayers or words of encouragement. Being active in her children and grandchildren's lives was what she lived for. She had many "adopted" children and grandchildren to which she offered encouragement and support. She also had an incredibly special bond and spent a lot of time with her mother and stepfather Lois and Felix Carbajal. She was so happy that she was able to spend the last few years with her sister, Ardith and nephew, BJ.

She will be remembered here on earth by her husband, John Shuck of Alzada, MT;  sons, Grady Shuck of  Shakopee, MN and J.D. Shuck of Spearfish, SD and daughter Johnna (Travis) Ladson of Spearfish SD;  grandsons, Slade & Gaige Ladson of Spearfish, SD; sister Ardith Beveridge of Spearfish, SD; aunt Lynette Frederickson of Rapid City, SD; uncle Robert "Sonny"  Perry of Spearfish, SD; nieces, Ramona Plascensia of Santa Anna, CA and Cristin Telma Parrish of Durham, NC;  nephews B.J. Telma of Spearfish SD and Marshall Wood of AZ.  As well as many friends that became like family to her.

Jeannine was greeted in Heaven by her mother and stepfather Lois & Felix Carbajal; brother James Wood; maternal grandparents Bertha & Frank Perry and paternal grandparents Chroshia & Charles Wood; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all her beloved animals.

A Celebration honoring Jeannine's life will be held on Friday, August 16th, 2024, at Spearfish City Park, North Shelter from 1-6pm.
