Janis Marie Candela was born on June 2, 1941, in Willow Lake, South Dakota to Arthur John Groeneveld and Lorena Marie Scharffenberg. After graduating from Lead High School, she moved to Mitchell to attend Nursing School and graduated in 1962. Her nursing profession, that she was very proud of, took her to many states with her longest tenure in California. This is where she met and married Dr. Warren Candela on May 24, 1970.
Jan was baptized on June 9, 1944, at The First Congregational Church of Millbank, South Dakota. She received her certificate of membership into the Methodist Church of Lead, South Dakota on April 17, 1955, where she remained a member until she was taken from this world to God's Eternal Kingdom.
She is survived by her children Eric, Greg and Nancy, her brother Lynn, her nephew Lane and her nieces Rene, Lorena and Amanda.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held in the spring at the United Methodist Church in Lead.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, Lead, South Dakota.
Cremation arrangements were under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel & Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
