Janice A. Key, 87, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025. She was born on June 15, 1938, in Vale, South Dakota, to Bill and June (Edwards) Shuck. On June 10, 1956, she married Jimmy H. Key, and together they shared 51 wonderful years. A devoted wife and mother, Janice poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family, which grew to include three children—Danette Bryant, Denise (Mark) Baley, and Scott (Kristin) Key — eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta Endres. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Key; two infant children; and her siblings, Freida Tracy and Sonny Shuck. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Bill and June Shuck, and her grandsons, Christopher Baley and Christopher Key.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the United Church of Christ in Spearfish, SD. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Janice's life. Burial will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
