Janet Engelhaupt, 80, of Sundance, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home.
Janet was born on September 29, 1935 to Tommy and Elsie Thompson. She grew up in Spearfish and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1954. Shortly after she graduated, she married Richard Engelhaupt and they had five children. They divorced in 1978 but remained friends. Janet worked at the Elk Horn which later became Mr. B's Blue Stallion, after that she was employed at the ARO Restaurant for a long period of time.
Janet loved the Passion Play in her younger years and would perform with her Dad. Janet also really enjoyed tennis, but most of all her 1976 El Camino was her real joy. She never missed a James Bond movie or an old western on TV. If a Broncos game was on she was ready with all her Broncos gear on.
Janet moved into the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home on January 3, 2009. She enjoyed being there, playing bingo all the time, and got involved in the activities they had. Prior to living in the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home, Janet was one of the first tenants at Green Mountain Estates, and was also a member of the Give & Gain Homemakers for 25 years.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Scott, Beckie Saddler, Henry (Dorothy) Engelhaupt, Glenn (Janna) Engelhaupt and Jimmie Engelhaupt; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly; sister, Jill Totman; niece, Zana; nephew, Todd and 11 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Jerry Totman; granddaughter, Patty Hilkemeier and great-granddaughter, Molli Toth.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, with inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home.
