Janet Marie Cudmore (Fust) passed away peacefully at home in Lead, South Dakota, on February 15, 2025, with her family by her side.  She was born on March 30, 1944, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Gilbert and Mary Ann Fust (Manikowski).

Janet dedicated much of her life to caring for others.  In addition to her dedication to raising her family, she worked as a healthcare worker at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood, South Dakota, where she provided compassionate support to patients. Later, she served as a custodian for Lead-Deadwood Elementary School and managed the Lead Free Store, always contributing to her community in meaningful ways.

Family was at the heart of Janet's life.  She is lovingly remembered by her children: Mary Grace Fuchs (Ray), of Bowman, North Dakota; Wanda Marie Matt (Duane), of Aurora, Colorado; Brenda Lynn Cavanagh (Robert), of Mountain Home, Idaho; and Theodore D. Cudmore, Jr. (LeaAnn) of Lead, South Dakota. She was a cherished grandmother to Bryant, Bonnie, Becki, Zachary, Jesse, Hunter, Colton, and Caden and was blessed with ten great-grandchildren.

Janet is also survived by her siblings: David Fust (Alyce), Walter Fust (Joanne), Roger Fust (Nancy), Richard Fust (Sandra), and Judy Swanson.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore D. Cudmore Sr.; her parents; her daughter Mary Ann Cudmore; her sister Suzanne Malstrom; and her brothers Joe and Don Fust.

Beyond her family life, Janet found joy in simple pleasures.  She loved spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren-fishing, bowling, gardening, woodworking alongside her husband, crocheting, collecting cookie jars, and cooking and baking for all who came to her house to visit.

Janet's warmth and dedication to those around her will be deeply missed.  May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lead at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Services following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
