Obituary

Janaye Nichole Rayman, 37, of Spearfish, SD was surrounded by her loving family when she went to rest with the Lord on September 30, 2024, after a courageous fight with breast cancer.

Janaye was born February 11, 1987, to Ron and Cyndee Brown in Sidney, MT. The family later welcomed Janaye's brother, Kelsey, and sister, Kynzie. Janaye was a dedicated older sister who loved to be "the mom." She was often found caring for her baby dolls. As a teen Janaye was very active. She was a dedicated multisport athlete, participating in basketball, volleyball, track & field, recreational softball and Taekwondo. She lettered in all her high school sports, she was a coach favorite. Outside of sports she was also part of many other groups: Business Professionals of America, Leo Club, Honor Society and Trading Cards.

After graduating from Sidney High School in 2005, Janaye attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD, where she met the love of her life, Elliot in 2006. Janaye later attended Mitchell Tech where she graduated as a Radiology Technologist. On December 21, 2007, while home on a surprise furlough just before deployment to Iraq, Elliot, in full uniform, got down on both knees and proposed to his beautiful Janaye.

Janaye and Elliot were married on June 5, 2010 at Indian Springs in Spearfish. Spearfish then became their home. Three years later they welcomed their first daughter, Adlee Nichole in 2013. Not long after, they welcomed another daughter, Quinn Sophia in 2015. These beautiful girls were Janaye's heart and soul. She instilled in them her love for the outdoors. As a family they love to hike, camp, boat/surf, take Gary on walks…wherever the sunshine was you would find Janaye.

The other place they loved to spend time together was at the gym. Janaye and Elliot thrived as owners of Barefoot Fitness. Barefoot isn't just a gym but a community that she supported with her calm and patient approach. Janaye was seen as a role model to so many people, in and out of the gym. She was a coach, a mentor and friend; her strength was motivating.

Throughout her life Janaye strived to always do her best in all aspects: sports, her marriage, being a mom, coaching, and her relationship with the Lord. She leaned on her faith, family and the communities that surrounded her during her journey with cancer.

Janaye is survived by the love of her life, Elliot; daughters Adlee and Quinn; parents Ron and Cyndee Brown; brother Kelsey (Rheanda) Brown and their children, Braxton, Emersyn and Walker; sister Kynzie (Matt) Oliver and their children, Hudson, Eloise and Maverik; mother-in-law Kristi (Kent) Weber; father-in-law Kevin (Stacy) Rayman; sister-in-law Rachel (Brad) Levy and their children Elisia and Emmi; paternal grandparents Mitz and Bette Brown; maternal grandmother Sandi Angel;  step-grandmother, Barbara Hagler and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Janaye was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Leland Hagler and uncle (Godfather) Curt Brown and aunt, Merisa Brown.
