Obituary

Jim Kaiser, 78, passed away unexpectedly early on the morning of July 10, 2020, at Monument Healthcare in Spearfish SD.

Jim was born on November 4, 1941, to David and Lucille Kaiser in Belle Fourche.  He was raised on a farm in the Orman-Arpan area along with his 9 siblings.  He attended country schools in the Arpan area and high school in Belle Fourche, graduating with the Class of 1960.  During his high school years, Jim worked at Eddie's Fifth Avenue Market.

On June 22, 1961, Jim married Judith Ryan, of Aladdin,  at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche.  Jim held various jobs around Belle Fourche until he and Judy moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin where they raised their family of four children, Jamie, Jill, Jerry & Jeb.   While residing in Wisconsin, Jim worked construction, the last job before his retirement being with Bane Nelson where he was in charge of the tool trailers.  Jim was also good at woodworking and remodeling and did a lot of projects in and around Kenosha in his spare time.

Upon retirement, Jim moved back to Belle Fourche and resided next door to his brother Vince and wife, Dottie. Jim continued to do woodworking and remodeling projects for people around Belle Fourche. Jim and Vince enjoyed living close again and became best buds until the untimely death of Vince in 2008. After Vince's death, Jim helped Dot with yard work around their homes in Belle Fourche and together with his nephew David kept up all the projects that were necessary on Dot's other rental properties.

With his daughter, Jill's recurring cancer diagnosis, Jim, along with other family members spent a lot of time with Jill and her fiancé, Bill Barter in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Even after Jill's death, Jim continued spending winters in Ft. Lauderdale. Thank you, Bill, for the hospitality and friendship you and Gabby (Jill and Bill's dog) extended to Jim over the years. Jim grew to love Gabby and Gabby and Jim had a lot of walks and quiet time together.

Jim is survived by his children, Jamie (Paul) Schoessling, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and their children, Megan (fiancé Dane), Paul and Kelly;  Jerry (Kirsten) Kaiser, Kenosha, Wisconsin, and their daughters, Elise, Carla (Jeremy), (and their daughter Charlie), and Julia (Tyler) Price; and son, Jeb (and the late Nona) Kaiser, Raymond, Wisconsin, and their children, Nika & Dino Dominici and Chloe Kaiser, Jim's former wife and mother of his children, Judith Ryan Kaiser, Kenosha, Jill's fiancé, Bill Barter, Ft. Lauderdale, and of course, Gabby. Jim is also survived by his five siblings, Loretta Upton, Paul (Pamela) Kaiser, Marietta (Ray) Schnitger, Nancy (Ed) Pedneau and Carol (Larry) Vavruska as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families. Also, by sisters-in-law Vince's wife, Dorothy (Dot), and Bob's wife, Mary Carol Kaiser.

Jim was proceeded in death by his daughter Jill in 2010, his daughter-in-law Nona Kaiser in 2019, infant son, Jeffrey (1964). Parents, Dave & Lucille Kaiser, and siblings, Frances, Bob, Vince, and Theresa. Also, brother in-laws, Bob Upton, Sid Johnson, and Dale Burke, nephew Kevin Burke, and Jim's goddaughter, Lori Schnitger.
