James Wayne Jensen, 86, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare.
James was born on August 27, 1939 in Huron, South Dakota to James E. and Nina (Grothe) Jensen . Known to many as "Jim" he grew up in De Smet, South Dakota.
Jim served in the US Navy on the USS Chilton (APA-38) from 1956 to 1960 as a Radioman Class A. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy Reserve in 1962.
On December 9, 1960 he married Dorothy Aalbers whom he not only shared the same birthday with, but had grown up with since they were children. Together they had two children, Bruce and Stacy.
For 13 years, James worked as a plumber achieving his journeyman license in 1965, where he was known for his kind smile and hard work. In 1975 he opened Jensen Plumbing in Spearfish and then Snohomish, Washington.
He is survived by his children, Bruce and Stacy; and one grandchild Shelby, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Aalbers); father, James and mother, Nina; and brother, Arnie.
He will be remembered most for his wit and smile.
A private family service will take place.
