Obituary
James "Jim" H. Brown, 63 of Carlile, WY passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Old High School Gym in Sundance. For those who cannot attend there will be a memorial in the Spring of 2013 with inurnment at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
Jim was born September 13, 1949 to Robert and Maxine (Morrow) Brown in Jamestown, North Dakota. He was raised and attended school in Wimbledon, ND, graduating from high school in 1967. He attended Valley City State University before entering the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to North Dakota he lovingly adopted Corey as his son and married Patricia Steckler on December 15, 1972 in Jamestown. He attended the North Dakota State College of Science and the University of North Dakota obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering. The family moved to Wyoming, where Molly was born. Jim worked in Riverton, Douglas and Casper. He settled in Carlile in 1982, and bought the Carlile Store. Jim met Marlene Cooper and the couple spent many years together running the Carlile store. He recently retired after working for many years from Powder River Energy.
Jim was a respected and revered community member who enjoyed the time he spent with family and neighbors.
Grateful to have shared in Jim's life include his partner of 24 years Marlene Cooper of Carlile, two children, Corey (Rika) Brown of Genoa City, WI and Molly Brown of Gillette, WY, two adored grandchildren, Jonah and Benjamin, three brothers; Robert (Cheryl) Brown of Jamestown, ND, Thomas (Janice) Brown of Valley City, ND and Jeffery (Virginia) Brown of Jamestown, ND and four sisters; Pamela (Ann Gollin) Brown of Boulder, CO, Colleen (Guy) Weatherly of West Fargo, ND, Diane (Jon) Klimek of El Cajon, CA and Amy (Lucy Batton) Brown of Boulder, CO and a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jim will leave a legacy of memories, stories, adventures and a love of music to remember him by.
