Jack Young, 82 of Spearfish, passed away on April 4, 2012 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.
Jack Young was born in Midland, TX on August 8, 1929 to Bud and Vic Young. He attended high school in Andrews and college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX. In 1948 he moved to South Dakota and began ranching in the Isabel area. In 1960 he married Roberta Carls. They continued ranching until 1968 when they moved to Spearfish. There they operated a motel and sold veterinary supplies. One of Jack's passions was roping. He was a professional calf roper and a champion in the SDRA & NRCA Associations.
He is survived by his wife Roberta of Spearfish; his son, Doug and grandson Trey of Dupree, grandson Jesse Cooper of New Hampton, IA and sister Jean Gray of Odessa, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents Bud & Vic Young and his daughter Renee Cooper and daughter-in-law Vicky.
Funeral Services for Jack will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Pastor Scott McKirdy officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
