Obituary
Jack R. Cornell, 88, of Spearfish, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M., Friday, February 24, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, graveside funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M., Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, SD.
Jack was born February 7, 1924 to Harry and Mona (Sankey) Cornell in Terry, MT. He moved with his family at a young age to Crook County, Wyoming where he graduated from Sundance High School. He married Billie Wagner on November 1, 1950 in Spearfish, where the couple made their home. They later moved to Belle Fourche, where Jack was employed at American Colloid as a truck driver for over twenty-six years. Following retirement they moved back to Spearfish, and Jack began working at Wal-Mart and worked there until the age of 85.
Grateful to have shared in his life is his wife of 61 years, Billie Cornell, daughter, Jacalyn (Dennis) Baxley, son, Bill (Laurie) Cornell, two sisters; Lorraine Hamilton and Beverly (Ozzie) Klumb, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ritchie Cornell, brother, Hugh Cornell and sister, Fay Chalfant.
