Obituary
J. Vincent "Vince" Tenke of Crook County, Wyoming, passed away at his home April 16, 2016 after battling cancer for over a year.
Vince was born May 26, 1933 the oldest son of John and Wilma (Toth) Tenke. Education began in a one room rural school house in Crook County. When it closed he rode the school bus into Sundance where he attended both the Sundance Elementary School and Sundance High School. In 1950 he became a partner with his Dad on the Tenke Ranch where he was born and lived his entire life. He was married to Arlene June Seeley on June 16, 1951 and they became the parents of John Vincent Jr. born May 19, 1952 and Jay Victor on March 24, 1954. Besides ranching he began custom farming and haying in 1960. Needing to move cattle and machine from place to place he began his trucking business in 1968 hauling ag products for neighbors and customers in a 300 mile radius so he was home at night. The best part of the trucking was the visiting. He always enjoyed visiting both in person and on the phone. He hauled his last load of hay in September of 2015. Winter time found him in the shop where he liked to build equipment from parts laying around. A few of the many things he built were several loader tractors, bale movers, and the fun things like two snow sleds, one being made from an airplane drop tank. It was the fastest thing to fly on the ground!
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, sons, John (Teresa) and Jay (Helen) Tenke, grandchildren, Casey (Alysa) Tenke, Tara (Shannon) Twomey, step grandchildren; Kenneth (Blake) Sutton, Beth Emrick and Cody Emrick, great-grandchildren; Justin and Shane Tenke and Kayleb Twomey, step great-grandchildren; Braxton, Lucy and Ivy Sutton and number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Wilma Tenke, Grandson Brad Tenke and Brother Leslie Tenke. Cremation has taken place, and at his request, no services will be held. A lunch in honor of his life will be held April 23rd from 12 to 5 at the Crook County Courthouse Basement.
