Irvin Emil Thie, 76 of Spearfish died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial with full military honors will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A second memorial service will be held in his hometown of Batesville, IN at the United Church of Church on June 4, 2010.

Irvin was born on December 7, 1933 to Alfred and Flora (Meyer) Thie in Franklin County, Indiana. Irvin proudly served in the United States Army from February of 1954 to January of 1956 and was stationed in Augsburg, Germany.

He is survived by his wife Ann Thie, Spearfish, daughter, Vyona (Dennis) Hetzendorfer, Cooper City, Florida, son, Daryl (Penny) Thie, Newberry, Florida, two grandsons, Eric Hetzendorfer and Kevin Hetzendorfer, two granddaughters, Eryn (Blane) Hartzog and Morgan Thie, sisters; Delores (Art) Brebberman, Batesville, IN, Martha (Bill) Hisrich, Batesville, IN, sister-in-law, Ruth Thie, Batesville, IN and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Melvin.
