Irma Brosnahan-Kinghorn, 94 of Spearfish died Friday, May 31, 2013 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
Irma was born June 3, 1918 to Joseph and Grace (Ferguson) Buerck near Sheridan, WY. She moved at the age of 12 to Lead, to live with her grandparents, A.D. and Augusta Ferguson and her aunt Mabel. She graduated from Lead High School in 1936. Irma was united in marriage to James Brosnahan on July 18, 1937. To this union four sons were born; Ray, Wesley, Donald and Martin. She was employed by the Deadwood Telephone Company as an operator for many years and later as a deputy auditor for the City of Lead. James passed away on February 28, 1968. Irma married Alvin Kinghorn in August of 1972, the couple made their home in Spearfish. Alvin passed away on October 30, 2000.
Irma was a member of All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish and V.F.W. Auxiliary in Deadwood. Irma had fond memories of her family.
Survivors include her four sons, Ray (Linda) Brosnahan of Spearfish, Wesley (Patricia) Brosnahan of Springfield, MO, Donald (Vickie) Brosnahan of Spirit Lake, IA and Martin (Eileen) Brosnahan of Lead, three step-children; Ken (Sheila) Kinghorn of Spearfish, Pat (Nancee) Kinghorn of Spearfish and Barbara (Jim) Nolan of Rapid City and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, and two brothers and two sisters.
