Irene Esther (Hauge) Lowe, 91, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Belle Fourche Health Care.

Irene was born in Lemmon, SD where grew up on a ranch in the Shade Hill area with her seven siblings. She was the daughter of Alfred Hauge and Esther (Christensen) Hauge.   She married Leon Wallace Lowe in 1947 in Lemmon where they began their life together. Through their 71 years of marriage they lived in Washington, South Dakota, Nebraska and Montana before moving back to Spearfish in 1975. They lived a total of 51 years in Spearfish. Irene and Leon were founding members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish.

Irene was a realtor in Billings, MT and Spearfish, SD. She was actively involved in her church and was a lifelong member in Beta Sigma Phi, receiving many awards and honors.

Irene is survived by her husband, Leon; daughters. Connie (Robert) Douglas, Spearfish, Carolyn (Roger) Teachworth, St. Paul, MN; son, Kurtis (Roberta) Lowe Austin, TX; sisters, Myrtle Ham and Alice Lovelette; and her seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Alfred Hauge, Bernice Lockert, Hazel Bartell, Elmer Hauge and John Hauge.

There will be a private family service and a celebration of life at a later date.  Gifts can be made in Irene's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
