Ida "Lois" LaVoy, at the age of 77, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Rapid City Hospice House.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 2, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood with Reverend David Baer officiating, burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to Hospice House in Rapid City.
Lois was born September 17, 1930 in Centennial Valley, Whitewood, SD to Clarence E. Leeling and Arta C. (Anderson) Leeling. She grew up and spent most of her life there. Lois was united in marriage to John A. LaVoy Jr. on September 4, 1948 in Lead, SD. The couple moved to Spearfish in 1989 and spent their remaining time there. The couple spent 60 years together, raising three children.
Lois is survived by her husband John A. LaVoy Jr. of Spearfish, her son John E. (Colleen) LaVoy of Spearfish, her daughter Peggy A. (Gerald) Trobee of Rapid City, her son Richard A. (Rosalie) LaVoy of Mesa, AZ, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Clarence (Stella) Leeling of Lead, one sister Mildred Willson of Whitewood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Arta Leeling, two sisters, Clarice Lee and Alice Wanhanen and two brothers, Kenneth Leeling and Harold Leeling.
