Hilma Sophie (Balo) Saari, 92 of Beulah, WY passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 at her home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish with Reverend Gordon Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Beulah Cemetery.
Hilma was born on October 18, 1918 in St. Onge, SD to Eric and Sophie (Paso) Balo. She graduated from Lead High School in 1939 and earned her teaching certificate from Black Hills State College. She married Henry Saari on September 6, 1942 in Cheyenne, WY. Living in Spearfish, Moskee and making their home in Beulah in 1958. To this union two children were born, Leslie and Sandra. Henry passed away on April 4, 1992. Hilma loved the outdoors, hunting with her husband and fishing with her grandchildren. She took pride in her love of cooking and making jelly. She treasured each of her grandchildren and always took time to visit with everyone that she met.
Her family is extremely grateful to her daughter Sandra for her wonderful care over the last four years of Hilma life.
She is survived by her son Leslie Saari of Beulah, daughter Sandra (Ted) Skovgard of Basin, WY, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry and numerous cousins.
