Henryk Kolano, 71, of Spearfish, SD, passed away at his home in Spearfish on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish at 10:00AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.  Rite of Committal will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.

Henryk was born October 3, 1951, in Lezajsk, Poland, the son of Julian and Kazimiera Kolano.  He immigrated to the United States with his three young sons, Marek, Janusz and Grzegorz, and none of them could speak English.  Henryk has lived in Spearfish since August 11, 1991.  Within his first week living in Spearfish, he was able to get a job with Lowe Roofing; a job he worked for the next 30 years until his retirement.

His most enjoyable hobbies were fishing, hunting, mushroom picking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to mourn his passing are his three sons, Marek (Kenu) Kolano, Janusz Kolano and Grzegorz (Kristina) Kolano; four grandchildren, Mariusz Kolano, Nella Kolano, Ryan Kolano and Maya Kolano; his mother, Kazia Kolano and his sisters, Marysia (David) McDowall, Janina (Stan) Federkiewicz, Stasia (Wojtek) Argasinska and Olenka (Robert) Mastro.  He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Kolano.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish, SD.
