Helen M. Wingenbach, 78, of Spearfish, SD, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.

Helen was the second child of Liberatus and Eva (Schmidt) Gustin. She was born on August 4, 1930 in Bismark, ND. Helen married Edmund Wingenbach at Flasher, ND, on December 28, 1949. Helen and Edmund had five children: Richard Lee, Judith Ann, John Allen, Kenneth James and Laurie Marie.

Helen and Edmund lived in Mandan, ND, and Bismark, ND, until 1965, when they moved to Spearfish, SD. Helen worked in and managed restaurants. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and her grandchildren.

Helen traveled the United States in her later years, going to Florida, The Bahamas, Oregon, Washington and Nevada. She lived a full, rich life on her terms. She was a great cook and passed down many recipes to her children.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Judith Ann (Clayton) Milliken of Wright, WY, and Laurie M. (Glen Donley) Douthit of Alva, OK, two sons, John A. (Sandy) Wingenbach of Northfield, MN, and Kenneth J. Wingenback of Houston, TX, her grandchildren: Josh (Staci), Jacklyn, Jay, Tanner, Adam, Nicole (Brandon), Crystal (James Settler), Christopher and Courtney, great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Johnathon, Kadence, Elizabeth and Paige. She is also survived by her sisters, Theresa Bender of Kiezer, OR, Florence Wingenbach of Bismark, ND, and Suzanne Peterson of Sundance, her brothers, Liberatus Gustin of Hazen, ND, Victor Gustin of Bismark, Leonard Gustin of St. Cloud, MN, and George Gustin of Sauk Rapids, MN.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Liberatus and Eva (Schmidt) Gustin, her husband, Edmund J. Wingenbach in 1979, her son Richard Wingenbach in 1993, daughter-in-law Rhonda Wingenbach, siblings: Peter, Paul, Robert, Catherine, Reta, Frances, Peter, Lawrence and Vincent.
