Obituary
Helen V. Mathwig, 99 of Spearfish, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
A memorial has been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Helen was born January 12, 1913 in Kalamazoo, MI to Lloyd and Effie Noble. She moved with her family at a young age to Battle Creek, MI, where she was raised and attended school. She married Willard Mathwig on September 11, 1945. The couple moved shortly thereafter to a ranch near Alzada, MT, where she worked side by side with her husband on the ranch for many years. Following retirement they moved to Belle Fourche and later to Spearfish.
Helen was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include two sons; Jack (Joyce) Loree of Spearfish and Larry (Beth) Loree of Louisville, KY, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
