Obituary

Hazel Annette Wampler Bunge 77, passed away on October 22, 2014 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital.

She was born the fourth of five surviving children to Harry L. and Bertha (Freeman) Wampler on Hat Creek in Niobrara County North of Lusk, WY on the Family Ranch on July 29, 1937. She attended rural school and Lusk Public School.

She married Dean Bunge May 6, 1954 at the Bunge Ranch in Sioux County. She spent 21 years in Lead, SD where she was active in the community and church while Dean worked for the Homestake Mine and they raised their family. In 1977, they returned to Nebraska to work the Bunge family ranch together. She was employed by the Lusk Hospital, Crawford Hospital and United States Postal Service for over 30 years. She provided hospice care for several area families through the years.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Lead and later an active member and officer of Redeemer Lutheran Church LCMS of Harrison. Her faith and family was the center of her life. She was a Life Member of the 7970 VFW Post Auxiliary of Harrison. She was active in the Dawes/Sioux/ Sheridan County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. She enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook, sewed, knitted and crocheted. She loved spending time with family, grandsons and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Doug (Betty) Bunge of Talbot, TN, René (Dale) Larson of Lead, S D, Edward Bunge of Harrison, and Diane (Scott) Macdonald of Harrison; grandsons, Shane Larson of CO, Doug (Stephanie) Bunge II of KY, Chad (Michelle) Larson of MN, William Bunge of TN; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; siblings, Ernest Wampler of Jackson WY and Mary Gorsuch of Torrington WY and sister-in-law, Doreen (Ray) Semroska of Harrison NE. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Dean; parents and siblings, Dorthea Lang and Leroy Wampler.

Memorial services will be October 30, 2014 at 3 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrison NE. Memorials have been established to Redeemer Lutheran Church and Sioux County Rural Fire Department both of Harrison. Condolences may be sent to PO Box 13 Harrison NE 69346.
