Hattie Belle Sheldon, 96 of Spearfish, SD, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Spearfish Regional Hospital in Spearfish.

Hattie was born to Claude and Mabel Ragels on July 8, 1923, in Andover, SD. Hattie was one of thirteen children in her family. She grew up in eastern South Dakota and attended school there as well.

Hattie met Norman Sheldon, and the two were married on October 25, 1942, in Gary, IN. Together they had three children; Linda (Vic) Schaefer, Norma (Bruce) Brugman, and Debbie (Dean) Wallace. Hattie and Norman moved back to South Dakota, and after many years in different towns and occupations, they retired in Spearfish, SD, enjoying the beautiful Black Hills. Hattie worked at the Ben Franklin for 21 years in Pierre. The family has many fond memories of many outings in the Black Hills and Hattie and Norman loved nothing more than spending time with their children and precious grandchildren.

Hattie was a very warm, loving, kind person, always putting her family first and always making sure everything was good with all. She will be greatly missed and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman; daughter, Norma; and all of her siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Spearfish, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
