Obituary

Harold Everett Waldo, 90, passed away in Lake Worth, FL, March 19, 2010, where he has resided since 1981.

Harold was born on August 8, 1919, in Erickson, Nebraska to Burl and Emma (Zinkon) Waldo. He graduated from Atkinson (NE) High School in 1937, while in high school he was known as the "Amelia Flash" because of his speed on the basketball court. Harold then attended the University of Nebraska. He married Annette Bernard-LeDoux on September 21, 1946. While in the service Harold served in the Eastern Theater-Rhineland from January of 1945 to February of 1946 and received the American Defenses Service Ribbon, WW II Victory Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon and the EAME Service Ribbon, he was honorably discharged as a Warrant Officer, Jr. Grade, after five years of service. Harold and Annette returned to Nebraska where they ranched on the Waldo family ranch in Amelia, Nebraska, until 1956, when Harold went to work for the U.S. Government, taking himself and his family to Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Virginia, Nevada and Alaska during that time, retiring after 36 years in 1981.

Harold was a member of the American Legion for 64 years and managed the Legion Club in Atkinson, NE for several years, a B.P.O.E. member for 63 years, a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Palm Springs, FL for 29 years. Harold loved getting together with his family and friends, playing cards, fishing, hunting for arrowheads and traveling. Some of Harold's fondest memories were celebrating Annette and his 50th anniversary in 1996 and their 90th birthday celebrations in 2009 with their family and friends.
