Harold "Smokey" Parke, 87, of Lead, South Dakota, joined his Savior on Christmas Day in Rapid City.
He was born on May 20, 1932, to Myron and Ida Parke of Kadoka, SD. Harold attended Kadoka High School as well as Dakota Wesleyan University and Grace College of the Bible. Harold served in the U.S. Army and worked most of his career at the Homestake Gold Mine.
Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he umpired youth softball in the Lead/Deadwood area for many years. He attended Rapid Valley Faith Baptist Church in Rapid City and was most recently a member of First Baptist Church of the Northern Hills in Deadwood.
Harold is survived by his wife, Marjorie Parke of Lead; sister, Anna Cowden of Grand Rapids, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Raquel and Skip Rice of Lead; son and daughter-in-law, Raúl and Lana Coriano of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Ida Parke; and brother, James Parke.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 29 from 2-4 PM at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 30 at First Baptist Church in Deadwood. Burial with military honors will take place at 1:30 PM at Black Hills National Cemetery.
