Greg "Kermit" Wagner, 52, Spearfish, passed away at Spearfish Regional Hospital on August 18, 2014.
Greg was born in Ellendale, ND, on June 27, 1962 to Earl Sr. and Mary (Zimmerman) Wagner. He moved to Lead at the age of six months.
The oldest of four children, Greg attended elementary school in Lead, Junior High in Deadwood, and graduated from Lead High School in 1980. Although Greg didn't "like" school, he made sure to stress the importance of education to his children and grandchildren.
Upon graduation he entered the Army National Guard. Cindy, the love of his life, took a road trip to see him and they were married on July 25, 1981. To complete this family, three beautiful children were born, Mandi Jo, Michael, and Dustin.
As Greg was always providing for his family, he spent years working at Piggly Wiggly and Wharf Resources. He was a contract miner for Homestake Mining Company for 15 years and was currently a Water Treatment Supervisor at Wharf Resources, which he loved! Greg also served as Trolley Manager for 13 years, a volunteer for the Deadwood Fire Department for 9 years where he also served as President. Greg was a man of strong work ethic and his day on the job was not done... he'd come home and put another full day's work in his yard, on his house, or for anyone who needed a hand.
Even though Greg enjoyed his work he did find time to enjoy some of life's best. From the early days of the kids' motocross races to all of their activities and sports... if Mandi, Michael, and Dustin were in it, Greg was there! He enjoyed long rides on his Harley, torchering Cindy during Broncos football, working on every project that Cindy organized, mowing his yard, and spending time with Cindy, family, and friends. He enjoyed all of these... usually with a little 4-legged shadow, Daisy. Being a "Pa" was his favorite!
Greg will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Cindy, Spearfish; mom, Mary Wagner, Lead; children, Mandi (Larry) Gould, Ft. Benning, GA, Michael (Jodi) Wagner, Aurora CO and Dustin (Amanda) Wagner, Jasper, MN; nine grandchildren, Trinity, Tyson, Taylor, Aaron, Reagan, Cali, Tanner, Logan, and Paisley; brother, Earl Jr. (Laura), Tucson Arizona; sisters, Gail (John) Bunch, Lead and Margie (Benjie) Stoflet, Deadwood; nieces, Jessica (Koty), Hailie, and C.J.; nephew, Jacob; mother-in -law, Jeanine Jones; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Greg's love for family also extended to his neighbors, Jennifer and Josh McBurnett and Godson Tyler.
He was met in heaven by his dad, Earl Sr.; father-in-law, Bill Jones; brother-in-law, Lennie Jones.
