Goldie L. Caldwell, of Deadwood, passed away the morning of July 24, 2016 at the age of 83.
Goldie was born September 8, 1932 to Mike & Martha Mileusnich in Onida, SD.
Goldie grew up on a farm in Sully County, South Dakota, and attended South Buffalo rural school and graduated from Onida High School. Goldie attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in Pierre, SD, and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN.) After graduation Goldie was a nurse at John Burns Memorial Hospital in Belle Fourche, SD.
Goldie met Floyd Caldwell in Belle Fourche, while working as a nurse and they were married on January 31, 1954 in Pierre, SD and lived in Belle Fourche until 1963 when they moved to a ranch outside of Deadwood.
Goldie became an avid horse rider and she and Floyd competed for years in pair barrel racing at local equestrian events. Goldie worked as bookkeeper for the family gasoline business. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Deadwood.
Goldie is survived by her husband, Floyd who stills resides on the family ranch; four children, son, Ross of Lead, SD; daughter, Rhonda (Mike) Von Colln of Rapid City, SD; son, Rex of Rapid City, SD; and son, Reed (Janet) of Oxnard, CA; four granddaughters, Samantha (Alex) Daie of Hanford, CA; Bailey (Jordan) of Fort Collins, CO; Danielle of Salt Lake City, UT;Kenzie of Rapid City, SD; great-grandson, Thanos of Fort Collins, CO; and sister, Hazel (Danny) Vrooman of Sioux Falls, SD.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Martha Mileusnich; brother, George Mileusnich; and sister, Helen Westphal.
Private family services will be held the week of July 24th.
