He attended his first ten years of school in Wall, South Dakota, and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1945. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. at the age of 17. In 1945 he saw active duty where he served as a crew chief on B-29 bombers. In 1947 he attended Chadron State College on the G.I. His first teaching position was in Gordon, Nebraska, where he was the elementary Principal, taught math, and coached football and basketball. In 1952, they moved to Quinn, South Dakota where he was High School Principal, taught and coached, and their first child, Kathy, was born. They spent a summer in Greeley, Colorado in 1955 where he finished his MA degree, and their second child, Jana, was born. They moved to Havre, Montana in 1957 where he was the Dean of Students at Havre High School. Glenn was active in several organizations there, including the Elks Club and Havre Jaycees. Their third child, Jeff, was born in Havre in 1958. In 1962 he took a position as the Superintendent of Schools in Hill City, South Dakota, and their fourth child, Joe, was born Rapid City. They moved to Newcastle, Wyoming in 1967 where Glenn served as High School Principal for nine years. He served on the Sundance Catholic Church Parrish Counsel for several years.

Glenn spent 37 years as an educator and administrator, touching so many young lives. He always loved kids and sports and could often be found in the gym shooting baskets with his students. In his younger days, he refereed high school and college basketball and football, even refereeing the Montana State Basketball Tournament one year. He rarely missed an activity at school, spending many evenings supporting athletic events and club meetings. He was always there for the kids when they needed him. He was a devoted father and husband, and considered all of his students as "his kids."

Glenn also loved antique cars, working on cars, and going to car shows. He was very mechanical and could fix just about anything. He liked nothing better on a hot summer afternoon than a good auction searching for deals.
