Obituary

Glenda Faye Iverson, 78, of Spearfish passed away peacefully on October 22, 2017 at her home.

Glenda was born in Rapid City on December 7, 1938 to Vernon Gilman and Hazel Shelsted. She moved to Spearfish with her family Bill & Hazel Pontius where she graduated from Spearfish High School in 1956. That same year she met and married the love of her life, Lee Iverson. They moved to many different places with their family in the US and Germany during his career in the US Air Force.

Glenda was an excellent dancer, square dancer and loved dancing in the Deadwood Days of 76 parade with her Pistols & Petticoats club. She was also an excellent cake decorator. She made all kinds of cakes from wedding cakes to small personal cakes. She made special cakes for each of her children on their birthdays and even made some of their wedding cakes.

Glenda was a very fun, caring and generous person, she made an impact on all she met. Glenda retired from Black Hills State University after many years working in the book store.

Glenda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee Iverson; sons, Don (Pam) Iverson, Kory (April) Iverson and daughter, Amber (Mark) Hannah. She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren, Daniel (Kiersi) Iverson, Shawn Iverson, John Hannah, Steve Hannah, Sapphire
Iverson (great-grandchildren Bradley & Logan) Jasmine Styles and a special grandson, she helped raise, Isaac Iverson. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Gilman; mother, Hazel Pontius and step-father, Bill Pontius; sisters, Gloria Thornhill and Judy Frank;
brother, Keith Gilman and son, Lon Lee Roy Iverson.

Memorial service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
