Georgia Schiwal passed away on March 14, 2015 at the David M Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish, SD at the age of 85 years and 4 months. She was under the very loving care of the Dorsett staff and Hospice of the Northern Hills.

Georgia Junella (Schaff) Schiwal was born Nov 20, 1929, eldest child of Fred Frank and Imogene (Eyster) Schaff in Wallace, Idaho. She grew up and graduated from high school in Gladstone, ND. She married Mike Schiwal on July 8, 1947.

Georgia and Mike Schiwal had ten children in their marriage. They lived and worked on several different farms/ranches in Slope, Stark and Hettinger counties until the early 60's when they moved into Mott ND. Georgia and Mike separated in 1969 and later divorced.

Georgia lived in Garden City, Kansas, then Portland and Madres Oregon in the 70's and 80's. In 1997, Georgia moved to Spearfish and lived with John, Matthew and Olivia Derrek. In 2002, she moved into her own senior apartment, in 2012, into Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, and January 1st of 2015 into the David M Dorsett Healthcare Center.

Georgia/Mom worked very hard and many long hours to provide for her family, and was always very proud of all of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments.

She is survived by her eight children, Mike (Genie) Schiwal, John Derrek, Linda (Rich) Lindemann, Dave Schiwal, Don Schiwal, Becky (Dean) Lutz, Berny (Brian) Kilzer, and Michelle (Dion) Ottmar; son-in-law, Hank Geray; daughter-in-law, Judy Schiwal. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Mike; son, Raymond and daughter, Rosalee. Also preceding were her six siblings, Donna Zima, Mauricia Graves, Melvin Schaff, Clifford Keller, Sandra Bieber and Kenneth Schaff.

Memorial services for Georgia will be at 1 PM, Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
