Gean Beets, 93 of Spearfish, passed away on May 4, 2015 at her home in Santa Rosa, CA.

Gean was born on November 11, 1921 in Spearfish, SD. She married Fred Beets on August 18, 1945 at San Juan Capistrano, CA. After the war they moved to Spearfish and went into the dairy business with her parents Emmett and Eugenia Ryan. Gean enjoyed various women's clubs throughout the years. Fred and Gean also belonged to several card clubs and enjoyed Saturday night dances. Bowling and tennis with friends Lola and Flora also kept her busy. In later years, she and Fred enjoyed traveling to visit children and grandchildren

Gean is survived by her children, Sheri (Laurie) Zaph of Spokane, WA, Janis (Bruce) Ehrlicher of Santa Rosa, CA, Neil (Mary) Beets, of Newell, SD, and Bill Beets of Denver CO. Gean is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Fred Beets in July 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels in Spearfish. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Northern Hills, 1440 N Main St. Spearfish SD.
