Gay Friel Lynn, 81 of Spearfish died Wednesday, November 05, 2008 at Dorsett Regional Senior Care in Spearfish.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 10, 2008 at All Angels Episcopal Church in Spearfish with Reverend Father Bunker Hill officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Gay's name at All Angels Episcopal Church and the Gay Lynn Scholarship at Black Hills State University.
Gay was born to Ossie and Flossie (Sampsell) Friel on November 23, 1926 in Wetonka, SD. During WWII she was a shipyard welder in Oregon from 1942-1943. She graduated from Spearfish High School in 1944 and Black Hills Teachers College in 1948. She taught school in Washington and California before returning to the Black Hills to marry Bill Lynn in December of 1951. She taught at Spearfish High School, Black Hills State College and Belle Fourche High School spanning a career of 33 years, touching the lives of many. Gay dedicated her life to her family, church, friends and community, leaving a lasting legacy.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Bill Lynn, Spearfish, three children; Friel Lynn and his wife Laura, Hulett, WY, Gae Zeigler and her husband Mark, Savage, MN and Glee Ellison, Minneapolis, MN and nine grandchildren.
