Gale Edward Shockey, 64 of Spearfish died Friday, September 4, 2015.
Gale was born in Deadwood, SD in 1951 to Elmer and Laura (Greene) Shockey. He grew up in Ward 1 in Deadwood, and graduated in 1969 from Deadwood High School. Growing up in Deadwood in a large family, he loved baseball, hunting and exploring the hills. He spent six years in the National Guards.
Gale was the eternal giver and listener, always the first in line to help. He spent his life in the woods logging.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. He cherished everyday he had with Bonnie Jean. He loved playing guitar and would often breakout in song wherever he was. He will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (Jones) Shockey; sons, Aaron (Stephane) Shockey of Spearfish and Troy (Leah) Shockey of Belle Fourche; grandchildren, Addeline, Natellie, Lange, Joselyn and Macey; brothers, Lloyd (Kathe) Shockey, Richard (Linda) Shockey, Roger (Cheryl) Shockey, Merle (Candance) Shockey and Kevin (Ginny) Shockey; sisters, Karen Balderson, Carolyn (Lee) Martin and Linda Kraus; brother-in-law, John Collins and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carlene Collins.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, September, 11, 2015 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
