IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gail L.
Pullen
November 28, 1959 – June 2, 2025
Gail L. Pullen, 65, of Spearfish, SD passed away peacefully in the midst of loved ones on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Gail was born in Rapid City, SD on November 28, 1959, to Don and Virginia Kiefer. She grew up helping her family manage Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park, where her father had also worked as a pilot and assistant park superintendent. Gail moved to Steamboat, CO after graduating high school, but eventually settled in Spearfish where she found work helping rebuild Pope & Talbot after a fire had destroyed the sawmill.
Gail stayed home with her children until they were all in school, then became a realtor in 1991 because she said the career would allow her to "both provide and be there for the important things". She worked most nights and weekends, and her kids could often be seen tagging along while she was showing houses. She never missed a practice or a game and made time to be involved with every school activity. Even friends of Gail's children felt safe and loved in her home, with many of them still calling her "Mom" today. Animals seemed to have felt the same way, because the stream of stray animals that also showed up at her door (and got taken in) was impressively endless.
After Gail's children were grown, she became co-owner of The Hot Rod Shop, during which time she traveled on many adventures showing cars, watching sprint car races and hauling hot rods across the country. A puppy named Button became Gail's new best friend, and the two remained inseparable until shortly before Gail's passing. Gail worked hard to be present in the lives of her grandchildren, always going out of her way to give them each special attention and time. Her love for them could be seen in all she did, and in the way she continued to put them first even when her health began to fail her.
Gail is survived by her brothers, Mike (Jerri) and Alan (Rhonda); her children, Jessey, Becky (Jared) and Katie (David); her grandchildren, Kingston, Tyson, Alexis, Ella, Gunnar, Colton and Axel; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. Our family is comforted knowing that she is in reunion with the many loved ones who proceeded her in death, including her parents, Donald and Virginia; and two grandchildren, Kendalyn and Kelton; and Button.
Services for Gail will be held at Solid Rock Church in Spearfish, SD at 2:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2025. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service; ashes will be spread by family at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Isburg Crematory of Spearfish.
