Fred Harvey Ward II, 62, Belle Fourche, SD passed away February 13, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Fred was born to Louis and Audrey (Seleen) Ward on February 28, 1050, in Sioux Falls, SD.
He graduated from high school at Pierre, SD. Fred attended Black Hills State University in 1968.
He spent his career as a contractor/carpenter. He spent most of his time on the road and has friends and associates throughout a five state area. You can see his beautiful handiwork in South Dakota, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
He was a true outdoorsman and loved to both work and play there as often as he could. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, swim and soak in the sun. Fred was addicted to all sports!! In Fred's words "Unfortunately I loved all sports and bet on them too." He spent many hours keeping track of all of his favorite teams.
Fred fought a heroic struggle with cancer and retained his positive and optimistic outlook on life until the end.
His family was always the main concentration of his life. He took great joy in spending time with his grandsons. He was patient, kind and he always found the good qualities in everyone.
Fred is survived by one daughter, Lanie (Phillip) Jones and two grandsons Carter and Gavin Jones; the love of his life, Bonnie Evans and her daughters, Teri (Leland) Ruzicka and Jeanie Evans and grandsons, Lorne, Taylor and Ryan; sisters, Maren (Paul) Reppert and Anne (Tim) Witte; sister-in-law, Judy Ward and numerous nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Audrey Ward, one brother, Robert Ward and infant sister, Jacquelynn Ward.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at the Back Porch in Spearfish on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 2 PM to 4 PM. Please come and join us. At the family's request no flowers please.
