Obituary

Floyd R. "Mal" Malheim, 68, of Sundance, WY, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mal was born November 26, 1943 to Trond and Lillian (Klann) Malheim at Waukegan, IL. Mal attended and graduated from Round Lake High School in Round Lake, IL. In 1961 Mal joined the US Air Force serving until 1965; he then served in the Air Force Reserve until 1967. On December 3, 1964 Mal married Jeanne James at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA. Mal was an accountant for General Mills in Vallejo, CA retiring in 1988. While enjoying raising his children Mal went to college obtaining his associate degree in Criminal Justice, Mal then went on to serve on the Vallejo Police Reserves. Mal also served as the photographer for the 4-H horse and livestock shows. On Dec 31, 1988 Mal and Jeanne arrived in Sheridan WY after relocating from California. While in Sheridan Mal became very involved in the Sheridan Gun Club. Mal was a life time member of the NRA, shot Trap and Silhouette competition. Mal lived to shoot recreationally and competitively and when if he wasn't shooting he was fishing, many of days were spent trolling Lake DeSmet. In June of 2000 Mal and Jeanne relocated to Sundance where he continued to shoot, fish and care for their horses.

Mal is survived by his wife of 48 yrs Jeanne of Sundance, WY; daughters, Heidi (Mick) Malheim of Upton, WY, Maureen (Barry) Ramer of St. George, Utah and Kellye James of Placerville, CA; grandchildren Erik Klein of Gillette, WY, Brianna (Jessie) Klein of Minatare, NE, Valerie (Chris) Carter of Mesquite, NV and Michael Haynes of Gillette, WY; and great-grandchildren Dylan Carter, Alexander Carter, Isabella Haynes, Cheyenne Carter and Dakota Carter and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Alan, sister Carol and faithful companions Angel, Kaycee and Kody.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. at the chapel with burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A memorial has been established and may be sent to the family at PO Box 97 Sundance, WY 82729.
