Floyd Carr, 87 of Sundance, WY died on February 15, 2013 due to complications from Leukemia.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Sundance. Burial will follow at the Mount Moriah Cemetery. Memorials have been established in his name at the Kalif Shrine Travel Fund for Crippled Children's Hospital and the Sundance Golf Club.

He was born on June 1, 1925 to his parents Jerry D. and Iva (Myers) Carr in West Plains, Missouri. He lived in West Plains until 1936 when the family moved to Crook County, Wyoming where he has lived since. He married his high school sweetheart, Claudis (Binney) Carr, on June l, l944 in Sundance, and they had been married for 68 years.

He pursued a number of different occupations including working for the United States Forest Service. He worked as a car and implement salesman and was a dealer for Tracy Motor Company for many years. Floyd owned a sporting goods store and was part owner of a grocery store. He operated a small ranch for many years and, later, became an independent real estate appraiser. He was employed by the Sundance State Bank doing appraisals and ranch inspections.

Floyd was always very active and served on a number of Boards and in many Organizations. He was a lay reader, vestry member and choir member for the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. He was the Past Patron of Electra Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Master of Sundance Lodge No. 9, A.F. & A.M., member of the Royal Arch Masons and member of the Kalif Temple.

From 1975-1984 Floyd was the Mayor of Sundance. He also served on the Sundance City Council, the Crook County Hospital Board and was President of the Crook County Welfare Board. Care and wellbeing of wildlife was always a concern of Floyd's and from 1973-1977 he was a Commissioner on the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission. He served as Vice-Chairman of that Board during the last year of his term. Golf was his favorite sport and Floyd belonged to the Sundance Country Club. He also enjoyed music and sang in community productions such as "Fiddler On the Roof" and "Oliver".

Survivors include his wife Claudis of Sundance; a son, Ron Carr (and Juli Ross) of Seattle; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Hal Roth of Englewood, Colorado and two grandsons, Reilly and Rory (wife, Lisa) both of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iva and Jerry D. Carr, and his brother, Jerry R. Carr.
