Floreine Lavon Anderson passed away at the age of 86, July 20, 2008 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by many of her loved ones.
Floreine was born November 18, 1921 at Wheaton Township, Hand County, South Dakota to Virgil and Gladys Sisson. She was the oldest of nine daughters. She lived her entire life in South Dakota. On December 27, 1939 she married the love of her life, Carroll Anderson. They had been married nearly 69 years. To this union was born eight children, 2 daughters and 6 sons: Mary Lynn (Bob) Edwards of Casper, WY, Jim Anderson of Spearfish, George (Nikki) Anderson of Riverton, WY, Dan (Karlynn) Anderson of Powell, WY, Bruce (DeLain) Anderson of Chandler, AZ, Susanne (Ron) Keil of Belle Fourche, SD, Darryl (Jane) Anderson of Houston, TX, and Ken (Jackie) Anderson of Rapid City, SD. Carroll and Floreine moved to Spearfish in 1956 and it has been their home since.
Floreine was a life long member of the Congregational/UCC Church, and was a devoted member who loved to be a servant to any who needed her help. She held the positions of Church Moderator, President of Women's Fellowship and Christian Education Director. She was also involved in the State Conference of the UCC.
Floreine was an avid gardener, cook and seamstress. She loved her family and entertaining them as well as others. She enjoyed reading books, needlework and playing games.
The legacy Floreine leaves is her love for the Lord. She relied on Him in her daily walk. To know Floreine is to know the phrases "I have every faith," and "This too shall pass."
In addition to her husband, Carroll, and children, she is survived by 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She also has 7 sisters and a large extended family that will miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, with family present, on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel & Cremation Service in Spearfish.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Spearfish United Church of Christ Congregational, with Pastor Peg Grzelkowski officiating, burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. After the burial a luncheon will take place at the church.
