Obituary
Flora Jane Walters, 90, of Spearfish, SD died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be on at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2010, at the United Church of Christ in Spearfish with Reverend Jeri Behringer officiating, burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 A.M until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
Flora was born to Clayton and Eva (Rushton) Wheeler on May 9, 1919 on the family ranch outside of Spearfish. She attended school at Chicken Creek and later married Ben Miller in 1939. They purchased a farm in Aladdin, WY and lived there until after Ben's death in 1974. Flora continued to deliver the mail north of Aladdin until moving to Spearfish. Flora took great pride in her involvement in the communities she lived in.
Flora loved vegetable gardening and flowers. She enjoyed canning her produce and sharing with others. She also loved to bake and was well known for her homemade goodies. Her greatest joy was always her family and all of them will forever miss her.
She is survived by her husband, Buryl Walters of Spearfish and her two sons, Bob (Corinne) Miller of Sundance, WY, and Ted (Pearl) Miller of Spearfish. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren; Monte (Tanja) Miller and their children Echo and Ben of Sundance, Jodie Mitchell and her children, Caden and Justine of Spearfish, Charity (Cash) Bapista and their children Seth and Wyatt of Ft. Meade, Becky (Billy) Hansen and their children Riley and Olivia of Rapid City, Stephanie (Sean) Badwound and their children Brady, Baily and Sydney of Ft. Bragg, NC, Shannon (Marijo) Gulbranson and their children Katelyn, Grady, Gavin and Brynn of Sioux Falls, SD and Shawna Gulbranson and her children Bradley and Sean of Plankinton, SD.
Flora is preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Miller, her daughters Claudette and Judy, grandson Travis Miller, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the United Church of Christ in Spearfish.
