Fern Viola Radensleben, 88, of Spearfish SD died peacefully in her daughter's home on September 1, 2022.
Fern was born December 9, 1933, to Clara Elmine Wright. She was raised in Mitchell, SD where she attended school. Fern would meet and married the love of her life Raymond LeRoy Radensleben Sr. on August 24, 1952, in Mitchell, SD. In 1961, they moved to the Black Hills and she continued to reside after Raymond passed away in 2005. Fern and Ray had seven sons, three daughters, one adopted daughter and one foster daughter.
Surviving children include daughters Patricia and husband Tom Derby of Central City, Karen and husband Guy Wopinski of Nisland, Diana and husband Stacy Oberle of Belle Fourche, sons Robert and wife Kim Radensleben of Lead, Travis and wife Jennifer Radensleben of Gillette WY, Shane and wife Trista Radensleben of Summerset, adopted daughter Cora Ann Radensleben of Spearfish and foster daughter Sandra and husband Dennis L. Cass of West Fargo, ND. Fern was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Fern and Ray's children that are no longer with us however we continue to honor their memories are son Raymond LeRoy Jr (Sonny) 1976, Eric Alan 1996, Kenneth John and Clifford James lost in infancy.
Fern was a mother to everyone that ever walked into her life whether it was neighbors, friends or strangers. She loved and cared for everyone as though they were her own family. Such a beautiful soul loved by so many and will be forever cherished by her family as a true Matriarch.
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 am Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church located at 827 Main Street in Deadwood SD, with funeral services to follow at 10:30 am with Rev. John Fries officiating. Inurnment will be 1:00 PM CST Friday, September 9, 2022, at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, SD. The family requests donations be graciously given to the Salvation Army of Spearfish SD. Guest book for Fern will be available at Grace Lutheran Church and for the Inurnment held at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell SD.
