Fay Lucille Hollister, 83 of Spearfish passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Judy's Assisted Living in Belle Fourche.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 26, 2009 at United Church of Christ Congregational in Spearfish with Pastor Peg Grzelkowski officiating, burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
A memorial has been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills.
Fay was born February 26, 1925 in the hospital in Hot Springs to Edward Price Hollister and Mary Lucille (Chambers) Hollister. She was raised on the family ranch east of Redig with her five brothers and sisters. She attended the Redig grade school. Fay helped on the ranch with housework and also herding sheep and sometimes milking cows. In 1960 she moved with her parents to Spearfish, when her parents retired from the ranch. Fay worked at the Canyon Café and Sparrow's Bakery. She enjoyed babysitting, especially her great nieces, Julie and Kelsey when they were small. She enjoyed going to church and Bible Studies at the United Church of Christ. She liked to crochet and made a number of baby blankets and she also enjoyed nourishing her house plants. Fay moved to Judy's Assisted Living in Belle Fourche in July of 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents and baby sister, Jean.
She is survived by two brothers, William E. Hollister, Sturgis, SD and James Hollister, Rainer, WA and three sisters, Marjorie (Dave) Junek, Belle Fourche, SD, Ardeth (Bill) Gatlin, Branford, FL and Bonnie Mudge, Coolidge, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.
