Obituary

Faith Kennedy passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 9, 2012, just weeks after celebrating her 100th Birthday surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Faith Evelyn Kennedy was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 16, 1912, to Fred and Mabel (Sheldon) Fowler. She grew up in New Haven, CT. One summer while she was in nurse's training at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital she met a handsome young man at church camp named Everett Kennedy. They were married in 1934 and had three children, John, Priscilla, and Myles. Faith was very proud of her nursing career. When not working at the hospital in the summers she was the RN at a Methodist Youth Camp on Shelter Island, NY. Faith and Everett were dedicated to their family and to their church. In their retirement years they lived in New Mexico and Florida, and enjoyed traveling all over the world. They moved to Spearfish in 2000 to be closer to their son Myles. Faith was a member of Chapter CX, P.E.O.

Faith is survived by her son Myles (Jeanette) of Spearfish, her son John, (Dixie) of Buckhannon, WV, her son-in-law Bob of Greenwood, SC, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Everett, her daughter Priscilla, her parents, her brother Ted, and one great-grandchild.

Myles and Jeanette would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kim and David Derosier and their staff at Garden Hills Assisted Living for the loving care they gave to Faith in her final years.

A private family graveside service is planned for later this week. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
