Obituary

Everett Lawson, 56 of St Onge, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the VFW in Spearfish.

Everett was born December 17, 1954 to Jesse James Lawson and Geraldine (Cruce) Lawson in Peoria, IL.

He entered the US Navy and served on the USS Midway during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to SD, he served as a firefighter at Fort Meade, SD for 6 years, drove truck for 4 years and enjoyed spending his free time as a prospector.

He embraced and practiced the Lakota beliefs and ways, journeying on the Red Road prior to his illness and death.

Everett is survived by his sons, Jesse Lawson and James (Felicia) Lawson, both of Spearfish; two former wives, Elain Robataille, Spearfish; Sharonna Oakley, Salem, UT; granddaughter, Isabella Kay; brothers and sisters, Loraine Christmas, Jerry Lawson, LaVel Carr, Rufus Lawson all from Monticello, AR; Douglas Lawson, Lexington, MS; Francis Hatcher, Houston, TX; and Willard Lawson, Natchez, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Naomi Petry and Wanda Toft; brothers, James Lawson, Leslie Lawson and Lonnie Lawson; and one grandchild, Brice Xander Lawson.
