Obituary

Eva Palmer, 90 a life-long resident of Lead, died July 22, 2015 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital.

Eva was the first child born to Joseph and Emma (Perriti) Laurenti on October 24, 1924. She lived in and loved the Italian neighborhood of Miner's Avenue where she lived for most of her life.

She attended school in Lead and graduated from Lead High School in 1942. She enjoyed attending the reunions and reminiscing with classmates. She began her working career at such local businesses as JC Penney and Black Hills Theaters. Her favorite work story was how she finally got hired at the Homestake Hearst Store and the next day, it burned down. Eva was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Altar Society, and American Legion Auxiliary Homestake Post.

Eva met the love and light of her life and married Howard at St. Patrick on April 13, 1947. To this union were born three children, Ralph, Sherry and Tom. Shortly thereafter, she became the "greatest stay at home mom". She will be remembered as a great mom, mother-in-law, grandma, and friend. Eva loved nothing more than hosting family get togethers and parties for any reason.

Eva is survived by her children, Ralph (Glennis) Palmer and Sherry (Ron) McGrath; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was pleased to have been able be part of their lives including school, sports, graduations and marriage.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; son, Tom and her brother, Charlie.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Lead with the Vigil following at 7 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the church. Interment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
