Esther (Mauch) Ackerman, 95 of Spearfish, SD passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Belle Fourche, SD.

Esther was born on March 28, 1920 in Moorcroft, WY to Alfred and Inez (Williamson) Mauch. She graduated from Sundance High School in1938 and later married Dickie B. Ackerman on August 17, 1941 in Hysham, MT. The couple returned to the ranch near Seely, WY where they raised their two children and ranched for over 60 years.
Esther welcomed hunting season as much as the hunters welcomed her home cooking and desserts, she enjoyed her bible study groups, was an Election Judge for Crook County and an honoree at the Devil's Tower Old Settlers Picnic in 2013.

After moving from the ranch to Spearfish in 2006 she enjoyed the many activities and companionships while living at the Hickory House.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Judy (Dave) Greenwood, Havre, MT; daughter-in-law, Vicki Gillette Ackerman, Belle Fourche, SD; grandchildren: Kari (Jason) King, Spearfish, SD; Brandon (Roni) Ackerman, Hulett, WY; Kristi (Michael) Ritchie, Spearfish, SD; Kraig (Melissa) Greenwood, Havre, MT; Callie Ackerman, Spearfish, SD; great-grandchildren: Zachery King, Lacee Greenwood, Amy McMullen, Abbey Greenwood, Bailee Ackerman, Bryce Ackerman, Bridgette Greenwood, Haydon Ritchie and Daisy Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Inez Mauch; husband, Dick Ackerman; son, Donald B. Ackerman and brothers, William and Lester Mauch.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October, 28th at the Greater Hulett Community Center, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at the Hulett Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Hulett Civic Center. Memorials have been established to benefit the Hulett School Music Department, Hospice of the Northern Hills or a charity of your choice.
