Obituary

Erik Allen Caudill passed away to be with our Lord on January 6, 2017. He was born in Houston, TX January 13, 1988. Blessed to have Erik join their family are his parents, Terry and Kathy Caudill, and his sister, Eryn Caudill. Erik graduated from Spearfish High School in 2006. He attended BHSU and although he was not able to complete his studies there, Erik had an intellectual curiosity that motivated him to continue learning and building skills. Erik was employed by Jerry Robinson as an electrical apprentice and construction worker. He also helped to manage the Caudill family's properties.

Erik owned a very quiet presence and the best one-word description would be, "gentle." He also possessed a clever wit and sense of humor that was fun-loving and spontaneous. Erik was ever-so polite and would never let a word of gratitude go unsaid for any help or care that he received.

His family meant everything to Erik - his love and loyalty always a constant. He drew strength from the support of his family and never missed a gathering or an opportunity to just "hang out." He was so very proud of his sister, and he cheered her on all the way through her graduation.

Erik was a true and loyal friend who nurtured his relationships to form life-long friendships. He would extend any and all help to whomever needed it. He sincerely enjoyed and cherished all of the times he was able to spend with his friends and family.

Erik loved being outdoors. It was always a wonderful day for him if he could enjoy the time snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing and/or playing disc golf with friends. He was an exceptional snowboarder who had been an instructor at Terry Peak.

Erik's love and kindness toward animals was an extension of his soft heart. He, as a young boy, walked door-to-door, raising funds to pay for a needed surgery for a little dog from the Humane Society.

Erik will be joining in Heaven, his grandfathers, Robert Thoresen and Estill Caudill.

Erik will continue to be loved and missed by his parents, Terry and Kathy Caudill; his sister, Eryn; grandmothers, Janet Thoresen and Aggie Caudill; uncles, Mike and Don Thoresen and families; extended Washington family, the Dunwiddies; many other great family members and many very loyal friends.

Vigil services will be at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish on Friday, January 13 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30pm at St. Joseph's on Saturday, January 14. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grayson Chapeau fund will be an extension of Erik's love, kindness and generosity.
